We, agree, as you know about many things and this is one of them. As I go forward with my cooking classes maybe I can find ways to introduce a theme of not encouraging food prejudices. Food is such a pleasure. Why ruin it with negatives! Whenever I invite friends and family for dinner they know that I'm cooking for them because I love food and hope that they will love it, too!

I loved Judith's description of all the customized foods she had to prepare for her Christmas dinner. I also grew up in a house where "dinner was dinner" and I never, in 25 years of sharing Christmas with relatives and guests, EVER heard of special requests and foods than were verboten. How did we all manage? Our family may have had our emotional (and liquid) highs-- but what was served was what we ate.

Ah, for the golden days. I gave a 50th birthday dinner for a friend where six of the 10 guests all called to announce their dietary needs. Then , one hour before arrival, another guest called to let me know that she "did not eat anything with a face!" That did it.... I asked her to bring her own food and, of course, she will never be asked to darken my door again.

By the by, I love "Cooking for One."
