I agree with you to a point about the food network, but to be fair…Ina Garten and Nigella Lawson both have exceptional shows. Nigella can be hard to find on Food Network, but Ina is Amazing.

Hi Judith,
I absolutely love the ideas you brought us here. We in NYC are so extraordinarily blessed to be able to walk to the market at any time and buy (almost) whatever we wish. That being said though, I find there’s a special kind of pleasure in doing as those Italian families do — making do with what you have, whatever is in the fridge and cabinet. I’ll be making a Lidia recipe tonight that I saw on her show on Sunday — wide noodles with prosciutto, white beans, and tomato paste, and I can’t wait.

Hi! Thanks so much for reminding us of Lidia’s book – I love her and her wonderful recipes – I’ve yet to make anything that didn’t elicit oohs and aahs. We watched you on the CBS Morning Show today – so fun to see you and to see you in “action!” Any chance you’ll be coming to Seattle soon? I agree with Nan in regards to Lidia and her work. I am fortunate to see her program on our PBS station as well as Jacques and Julia’s. They are my touchstones and their common sense approach has always been enormously comforting. It is a rare thing in these days of “evoo” and competition cooking. Give me a knife, a mango and the whole day to play! Thank you for your work.
